2010

What a year!!! This has been quite a year. It has been both exciting and challenging.  Over all it has been a year of growth. This year 2010 has been a great year but I believe that 2011 will be even greater. :-) I thank God for His goodness and faithfulness towards me this past year. He has blessed me and I am so very grateful for His blessings towards me. It definitely pays to serve the Lord!!! :-)

Here are a few highlights of this past year that I would like to share.

Highlights:
1. New job- I am so grateful for my new job and teaching position. That is definitely one of the highlights of my year. I have really grown a lot as a teacher and as a professional. I am soo grateful for where God has brought me in my professional career.

2. Grad school- I am also very excited that I am now halfway complete with my grad program. I remember just a year ago, I was trying to get into the swing of grad school...and now I am almost done!! :-) I'm sooo excited!!!! :-D  I start my internship this summer and am thrilled to get this degree finished. I am also very excited that I have been able to maintain a 4.0 so far in my grad program. That's crazy!! I never imagined myself having a 4.0. Especially in grad school, when I have to juggle working full time and being a wife! I must say that God is soo good!! :-) It is only by His grace that I am able to do this. THANK YOU JESUS!!! :-)

3. My surprise birthday party- I have to give a special thank you to Estefania, Oscar, Henry, Claudia, and everyone else who made my 29th birthday so special!! :-) I had an awesome birthday spent with friends and family. They TOTALLY surprised me (as you can see in the pics) and I was soo blessed!!! The Lord has put some really great friends and people into my life!! :-)

I was soo surprised!!!

Great fun with friends!

4. Gboyinde's wedding- Gboyinde is a very special friend to me. I was sooo honored and blessed to be a part of her very special day. :-) She was a beautiful bride. This was the first wedding that I have been in since I moved up here and I have to say that I am sooo grateful to have been able to stand with her on this day. I am soo blessed to have her as a friend! I love you girl!! :-)

Henry and I were both in the wedding.

5. Family Christmas Reunion- This was a great Christmas. It was sooo nice to have the moms in town and all the kids together. We were able to spend time together, catch up, share and talk. It has been a blast!! I am soo grateful for the family that God has given to me. :-) I can't wait to do this again soon... :-)

6. Henry starting grad school- I have to say that I am sooo proud of Henry. He started grad school this year and he is doing an awesome job. It's not easy working full time and going to school full time but he is doing it. He works sooo hard and is such a good student. He will be done next September. I think the thing that I am very excited about is that we will both walk in 2012 for our graduations. :-)

7. Trip to Florida- I have to say that this was the best trip that we have taken...so far. It was a blast. Swimming with the dolphins was sooooo much fun!! I still can't believe that I waded with stingrays.... ;-) It was a nice time to spend with Henry and make memories that we will never forget. :-)

9. Hair magazine/hair show- I was able to participate in my first hair magazine photo shoot this year. It was sooo much fun!! I'm def looking forward to doing more in the future. My picture will be in a magazine called Style Q. It should be in beauty supply stores in February of 2011. So check it out!! Another thing that I really enjoyed was doing my first MD hair show. It was a lot of fun and I'm def looking forward to doing more. :-)

10. Hen's fashion show debut- I'm sooo proud of Hen. He did his first fashion show this year. He did great!! I know that this is not his last. This is just the beginning for him!!! He looked sooooo good too!! Um Um Um!!! :-)

Henry looking too good!!

I love my man in a suit!!! :-)

Even though this year has been great one of the hardest parts of this year was having to say goodbye to Sis. Wanda. This whole situation was such a surprise and I'm still in shock about everything. She was such a wonderful person and sooo loved. One of the main reasons why I am in MD today is because of her and Bro. John. They introduced me to Henry and are such a special part of our story. I am sooo blessed and grateful to have been able to spend the time with her that I did. I am also grateful to have been able to know her for most of my life. She will be always loved and will always be in my heart. She was such an awesome example of a great wife. She had 46 years of marriage experience and I am soo grateful that I was able to learn from her. I hope that I make her proud! I love you Sis. Wanda!!! :-)

I have looked back to remember some things about this year, but now I am ready to look forward at this new year ahead of me. I am sooo excited about all that God has in store for this new year. I look forward to growing even more as a teacher, professional, wife, daughter, sister, etc. I also look forward to developing more friendships and relationships with those who God places in my life. I also look forward to spending more time with friends and developing the special friendships that I can see already blossoming. I know they will grow into something beautiful! :-) I also look forward to growing more into the person and woman that God wants me to be. I want to be a wonderful woman, wife and (hopefully soon) mom. I want to be the best MELISSA that I can be.

I have to say that I am soo thankful for those of you who God has placed into my life. I know that you are not in my life by accident. Thank you for the blessing that you all are to me whether in small ways or big. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to my old friend and new!  I appreciate you all!! :-)

I also want to give a BIG THANK YOU to my mom who has been such a great support to me. She has been a mom but now she is my friend. I am sooo blessed to have her as a friend and am sooo blessed to have her here with me for the Christmas holiday. I love you mom!!!

He is my best friend and loves me when I'm sweet and when I'm sour...He loves me on my good days and bad days. He is sooo wonderful!! I am truly blessed to have him for LIFE!!! Thank you Jesus!!! I LOVE YOU BABY!!!! :-)

June 23, 2007

Thank you Lord for your goodness this past year. You are sooo good!! Thank you for being my Father and my friend. I love you!!! :-)

I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas. If you don't hear from me between now and next year...I pray you all have a wonderful, blessed, safe, and happy new year!!!

Be Blessed!!

Melissa :-)

Good for the Soul.....

As many of you know it's been a VERY difficult couple of days for me...needless to say I have been VERY emotional....  But God is good and He is comforting me during this time... I wanted to share a couple of songs with you that have really helped me at this time...

This first song is sooo beautiful and brings me to tears every time I listen to it. This is an example of true worship.... It's CeCe Winan's live version of "Jesus You're Beautiful" To get the full effect make sure you play part 2 right after part...

The second song is called "I Give Myself Away" by William McDowell. Beautiful song.

I hope these songs bless you as much as they have blessed me.... Enjoy!!
